HP PageWide 300, 400, 500 series - Update the printer firmware

Go to www.hp.com/go/support, and then click Software & Drivers.
In the Enter my HP model number text-field, type your product model number (e.g. PageWide Pro 477dn), and then click Find my product.
The product support page will display.
Follow the instructions on the Web page to find the latest firmware files.
note:
If the most recent firmware version is already installed on the printer, you do not need to download the firmware until a new version is available.Click Download next to the firmware version that you would like to download.
note:
There is also a Firmware Update README file available for download. The README file contains information about the enhancements and fixes that are provided in the new firmware version. To view this information, click Download next to the README option to download the file.When the file finishes downloading, double click on the file or right-click and select Open.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
To obtain the printer's IP address, follow the steps in the Obtain the printer's IP address section below.
If you already have the printer's IP address, skip to the Update the firmware using the EWS section in this document.

Open a Web browser on your computer, and in the address line, type the printer's IP address, and then press Enter on the keyboard.

The EWS Home page will open.
On the EWS Home page, click Printer Update, click Firmware Updates, and then click Check Now.
If a newer firmware version is available, you will see a message indicating that an update is required. Continue to the next step.
If a newer firmware version is not available, then the most current firmware version is already installed on the printer. You do not need to update the firmware until a newer version is available.
Click Install Update to update the firmware on the printer.
note:
To enable automatic firmware updates, click Install updates automatically. HP recommends this option.
Step one: Obtain the firmware file (from the FTP site) and save it on a USB thumb drivenote:
This option might be useful to a field-technician going on-site. The technician could save the firmware file on a thumb drive prior to going on-site and then use it to update the firmware when they are at the customer's location.
Open a Web browser on your computer.
From the browser, access the FTP site and login using the following information:

When you access the FTP site the first time, the HPRC-INC Terms of Use & Service page will display. Scroll to the bottom of the Terms of Use & Service page and click Accept and then you will be directed to the Login page.HTTPS Access: https://ftp.usa.hp.com/hprc/
Account Name: pntvr2fw
Account Password: EY9uh*V7
note:
This password is case-sensitive, and the final digit is incremented on a semi-annual basis. If the password above does not work, try incrementing it to "V8", "V9", and so on.
After you login, click the Pagewide Pro X folder.
In the Pagewide Pro X folder, click the folder for the most current firmware version.
In the firmware folder, click the file name that corresponds with the printer model to download the file.
For example, if the printer model is the PageWide Pro 477dw, click PageWide Pro 477dw.ful2.
When prompted, click Save as and save the file to the desktop.
Plug the USB thumb drive into the computer, and make sure that it does not have any files saved on it.
Save the .ful2 file to the root directory of the USB thumb drive, and then navigate to the drive on the computer and eject the thumb drive.
Option four: Alternate Pre-Boot MethodIf you are unable to update the firmware with any of the methods listed above, you can use the pre-boot method for the PageWide Pro 377, 477, 577, or 552 models.note:
It may take up to one minute for the update to begin.note:
The location of the USB port on the printer depends on the printer model. Refer to the table below to find the location of the USB port for the specific model.

The USB port is located on the front, left side of the printer under the control panel screen.

Before starting this procedure you need to have the appropriate .ful2 file for the printer to be updated loaded on a USB thumb drive as described above.note:
The pre-boot method cannot be used on the PageWide Pro 352 or 452 models.
Power on the printer and then hold the power button in for about 15 seconds, until the Home and Return buttons light up.
Release the power button. Touch the Home, Back, and Home buttons in that order.
When the blue screen appears on the control panel, wait 5 seconds and then touch the Menu button in the lower right corner of the screen.
note:
Do not select the Reflash option on this screen.After touching the Menu button a DRIVE REFLASH screen appears.
Place the USB thumb drive with the .ful2 file on it into the rear USB port on the printer and touch OK. A green screen displays indicating that the printer is beginning the firmware upgrade.
