 note:
This option might be useful to a field-technician going on-site. The technician could save the firmware file on a thumb drive prior to going on-site and then use it to update the firmware when they are at the customer's location.
Step one: Obtain the firmware file (from the FTP site) and save it on a USB thumb drive
  1. Open a Web browser on your computer.

  2. From the browser, access the FTP site and login using the following information:

     note:
When you access the FTP site the first time, the HPRC-INC Terms of Use & Service page will display. Scroll to the bottom of the Terms of Use & Service page and click Accept and then you will be directed to the Login page.

    • HTTPS Access: https://ftp.usa.hp.com/hprc/

    • Account Name: pntvr2fw

    • Account Password: EY9uh*V7

       note:
This password is case-sensitive, and the final digit is incremented on a semi-annual basis. If the password above does not work, try incrementing it to "V8", "V9", and so on.

  3. After you login, click the Pagewide Pro X folder.

  4. In the Pagewide Pro X folder, click the folder for the most current firmware version.

  5. In the firmware folder, click the file name that corresponds with the printer model to download the file.

Step two: Update the firmware with the USB thumb driveTo update the firmware, insert the thumb drive into the USB port on the printer. Once the thumb drive is inserted, the firmware update will happen automatically. Follow the prompts on the control panel screen to complete the firmware update. Do not remove the thumb drive until a message displays indicating that the update is complete.
