Learn how to create and save a debug data file from the control panel.

Make sure the printer is in a Ready state, that you have access to the Troubleshooting menu, and a USB drive available. If the printer is in error state, use the Preboot menu method.

  1. Insert a USB drive into the port on the front of the printer.

  2. Open the Support tools menu.

  3. Select the Troubleshooting option from the left pane.

  4. Depending on the firmware version installed on the printer, follow one of these methods to Generate Debug Data.

  5. Select Save to USB.

The generated data is saved as an encrypted .jdp log file on the USB drive.
