Paper jam troubleshooting

The following sections in this document contain steps for troubleshooting paper jams in different locations along the paper path in the printer.
Before you begin troubleshooting, determine whether or not you know the location of the paper jam and then proceed with one of these strategies:
  • If the error message displayed on the printer control panel references a specific location for the jam (such as Tray 2), find the section below for that jam location and follow the steps provided to clear the jam.
  • If you do not know the location of the jam and it is not specified in the error message on the printer control panel, try the steps in each section below to find and clear the jam. If any of the steps resolve the jam, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
   NOTE:
If the jam error persists after trying all the procedures in this document, refer to the following support document Paper jams that result in a whole unit replacement (WUR) (Emerging Issue) for instructions to escalate the case to ATS/Support Engineers Level 2.
Clear jams in the document feeder and scanner (MFP models only)
